Informations for First Year Students
Welcome to the Website for First Year Students at the Faculty of Computer Science!
This website provides a summary of the courses of study offered at our Faculty of Computer Science (FIN), individual programs, and information about study and life in Magdeburg. An alternative study guide (in German, PDF) presents the Faculty and life in Magdeburg in general.
Mentoring Program
As soon as your course of studies has started, an experienced student will become your guide and advisor within the frame of our mentoring program. So don't worry about your start into student life. Further information about the mentoring program is accessible via www.unimentor.de. You may enroll for this program during the introduction week before the new semester starts.
Preliminary Courses
Before the start of your course of studies you may attend preliminary courses in mathematics und programming. By means of these programs the Faculty aims to simplify your start and to remove any barriers. Further information are available at vorkurs.farafin.de.
Introduction Week
The change into a new living environment is always difficult. To facilitate this step, our University offers an introduction week presenting the University and its courses of study to you. Our student representatives offer additional programs to facilitate your start at the University and in Magdeburg (e.g. a campus tour or a discovery tour through the city).
